Processes and particle size:

The contract processing facility is equipped with a variety of mills and classifiers which can be set up in combination with various ancillary systems enabling British Rema to cover a wide range of milling and classification tasks. Working with particle sizes across a range from 2 microns to several millimetres, the main technologies used are as follows;

Opposed jet mills: a type of air-microniser used for the superfine grinding of a wide range of materials, particularly in cases where the feed material is hard or already relatively fine. The technology enables accurate and controllable product sizes to be achieved with sharp cut-off and a typically narrow size-distribution. Output particle sizes range from 2 microns to 150 microns.

Rotary impact mills: generally used for less abrasive applications, a rotary impact mill is a simple, versatile high speed impact grinder suitable for materials up to 3 Mohs hardness. Some mills include an integrated classifier system which extends its particle size range and narrows the particle size distribution. Output particle sizes range from 10 microns to 300 microns.

Aerosplit classifiers: air-swept classsifiers capable of accurately separating products of exceptional fineness over a wide range of feed variations. This equipment works with particle sizes ranging from 3 microns to 150 microns.

Unit air separator: an air-swept classifier suitable for the classification of a wide range of high-volume materials, typically working in the range of 25 microns to 300 microns. It is particularly suitable for the removal of smalll quantities of oversize material or the de-dusting of granular materials to remove undesirable "fines".

Vibro sifters: Typically working with larger particle sizes, mechanical sifters are cost-effective and efficient units and are capable of separating input material into multiple fractions by using a multi-tier system.

Processing volumes can range from a one-off batch of a few kilos to regular monthly production runs of many tonnes. The facility is equipped with different sizes of each machine type, guaranteeing consistency on scale-up between trial and production volumes.

Product can be packed to customer's particular requirements, with packaging materials either sourced by British Rema or provided by the customer. Typical pack formats range form 15 kg sacks to 1 tonne bulk bags.
