Particle Size Control – Static Vane Classifier
Features and Benefits
The British Rema Double Cone Classifier is an airborne unit suitable for coarse classification with particular application to closed-circuit ball milling systems.
• Operating range generally 50 microns to 300 microns
• Feed rates up to approx. 70 tons/hour
• Airborne feed and fines discharge with gravity discharge of oversize.
• No rotating element or screens.
• Simple external adjustment of product fineness by variation of vane angle.
• Simple and robust construction.
• Optional abrasion resistant linings available in steel, rubber, polyurethane, or ceramics.
Operating Principles
• Feed material entrained in carrier air enters by duct (1).
• Change of direction imparted by baffle plate (2) provides primary classification of larger particles which fall under gravity to rejects chute (3).
• Remaining feed stock and carrier air continues up the annulus between inner and outer cones to the vaned section (4).
• Passage through the vaned section imparts vortex action to carrier air and material.
• Final classification takes place within the vortex removing further oversize which falls to the bottom of the inner cone to be discharge through balanced flap valves (5).
• Final product is carried up the discharge pipe (6) in the entraining air for subsequent external collection.
