Contract Processing
Based on its heritage in the design and manufacture of milling and classification plant and equipment, British Rema has provided contract processing services to a wide variety of industries for over 20 years.
Having moved to new purpose-built premises and made substantial investment in new equipment in 2007, we now offer a complete powder processing service, capable of reducing particles down to one or two microns and to tight size-distribution specifications.
Handling batches from a few kilos to many tonnes, we are accustomed to working with customers through all of their product life-cycle, from initial R&D samples, through commercial trials and up to full production.
We are experienced in the handling of sensitising or toxic materials and are supported by our own analytical laboratory, equipped with laser-based particle size analysis equipment.
We are ISO 9001:2000 accredited and operate externally validated quality systems which are regularly audited by customers as part of their own quality procedures.
Raw material can be supplied by you for processing or we can arrange to source material on your behalf. Our existing customers operate in many parts of the world, including Europe, USA and Japan, and we are able to receive and despatch material internationally, packed to your specific requirements.

Applications
British Rema has experience of working with a wide range of industry sectors, for example:
Aerospace
Advanced Composite Materials
Animal feeds
Automotive
Carbons & Graphite
Cement
Ceramics
Construction materials
Cosmetics
Detergents
Enamels and Glazes
Fertilisers
Food ingredients
Herbicides, Insecticides and Pesticides
Metallic Minerals and Ores
Metallic powders
Oxides and Compounds
Paints, Pigments and Dye Stuffs
Pharmaceuticals
Rare Earth Metals
Printing Toners and Anti set-off products
These are some more specific examples of the materials that we have processed for customers:

Aerospace composites:
Working with polycarbonate, polyethyl sulphone and other relatively soft and heat sensitive resins and plastics requires careful operating conditions and temperature control to produce material acceptable to the highest standards demanded by the advanced composite industry. With much of the material processed destined for highly sensitive aerospace applications, quality control procedures are paramount.
Abrasives / Super-abrasives:
Materials such as synthetic diamond, carbides, molybdenum, and zircon are routinely processed to customer specifications, where particle size affects their performance.
Carbon / Graphite:
Activated Carbon material applications are becoming more diverse, with particle size control routinely considered a key attribute for improving the material’s absorbent properties.
Fine Chemicals:
A very wide range of chemicals are processed by British Rema to control either the top or bottom size cut, or both, in critical applications. Some common materials include zinc stearate, calcium fluoride, antimony pentoxide, calcium carbonate, cryolite and zircon flour.
Minerals:
Naturally occurring, synthetic, precipitated, fused, and surface/property modified minerals may require size reduction, size classification, or screening to improve material or application properties. Many minerals are used as carriers, substrates or catalysts during secondary processing.
Printing materials:
The performance of anti set-off products such as zinc stearate, starch and castor sugar have been shown to be particle size critical, and this is also true for improving the luster and dispersability of printing inks.
